Easter

I have been wanting to get a post done about Easter and put up pictures for awhile now, but time seems to get away from me. Let's see how caught up I can get today. :-)

Easter was eventful but Paxton was still recovering from one of numerous ear aches so his temperment came and went as we enjoyed various festivities.

Mid-week before Easter we colored Easter eggs, or more accurately, Toni colored Easter eggs, Paxton played with stickers and I took pictures. Once the eggs were colored we gave him two eggs to play with. He crushed one and wanted to take the other to his bath with him. He wasn't very happy when we took it away for bath time. He kept kissing the eggs though, super cute!
The Saturday before Easter Sunday we went to the city Easter activities and had breakfast, met the Easter bunny and participated in an Easter egg hunt. It was alot of fun, though right before the egg hunt, Paxton hit melt down mode because he wanted to go into the ropped off area and we weren't letting him. Ironically, when they said go and he could enter, he was crying and was not super eager at first to "hunt". Toni is such a better parent than I am. She participated in the Easter egg hunt with him (because the idea of bending over and running, etc. seemed more than I am capable of doing). I kept yelling encouragement and more pointedly kept telling Toni to get more eggs and candy for Paxton. Here is where Toni is better than I. She wanted Paxton to get his own eggs, and rather than be ultra competitive like me and the other parents, she let Paxton "hunt" rather than "hunt for him". He ended up with two eggs, both filled with hopping frogs, and he was delighted as ever.
On Easter, Paxton woke up to find his Easter basket. We had to coax him into hunting for the Easter eggs around the house because at first he wasn't game. Once he learned there was chocolates inside the eggs, his hunting skills picked up. And we learned an important parental lesson about Easter and hiding eggs this year - you don't need to hide 20 plus eggs for one kid. We only put one or two candies in each egg, but after 4 or 5 eggs, breakfast was spoiled, lunch wasn't happening, all we wanted was chocolates for the rest of the day. While he took his morning nap, we actually tried to collect and put away the remaining hidden eggs. But our son is smart than us, and he found several we had missed throughout the course of the day. Needless to say, it was a sugar rushed day. :-)
We really did enjoy the Easter holiday. It is so much fun to celebrate things with a child. We look forward to next year when there are two kiddos to appreciate with!
